Philippine Army Modernization Projects

The MaxDefense's AFP Modernization Program Project Database was inspired by Defense Industry Daily's format, of creating a library of AFP Modernization Program projects as a resource that will be updated occasionally as corresponding new information becomes available.

This would take some time to build up as we are doing this from scratch, and only during free time.

Philippine Army:

Horizon 2:

1. Light Tank:
    - currently in pre-procurement phase. Final negotiations with winning proponent on-hold due to COVID-19 restrictions.

2. M113 Armored Mortar Carrier Upgrade - Elbit Systems Soltam Cardom 20mm Recoil Mortar Systems on Upgraded M113A2 tracked armored vehicle
    - Contracted to Elbit Systems Land & C4I. For delivery starting 2020.
 
3. M113 APC Firepower Upgrade:
    - currently in pre-procurement phase.

4. Wheeled Armored Personnel Carrier:

5. 155mm Howitzer, Self Propelled - Elbit Systems Soltam ATMOS 155mm/52cal SPH:
    - Contracted to Elbit Systems Land & C4I. Delivery expected to be complete by 2022.

    - currently in pre-procurement phase.
    
7. Man Portable Air Defense System:
    - currently in pre-procurement phase, selection process ongoing between MBDA Mistral and LIGNex1 Chiron.

10. 40mm Revolver Grenade Launchers - Rippel Effect Systems XRGL40 MGL:
       - awarded to Rippel Effect Systems South Africa with their XRGL40 Extended Range 40mm MGL. Contract signed 05 March 2020, for delivery on or before 01 December 2020.

    - locally-sourced, delivery completed for use by Army units in Mindanao

4. Assault Rifle 5.56mm M4/AR-15 Platform (2018) - SIG Sauer SIGM400 14.5":
    - awarded to SIG Sauer, delivery completed in early 2020.

5. Combat Reflex Sights:
    - postponed as of October 2018.

6. PA Ballistic Helmet:
    - awarded to MKU Ltd. India as of July 2019.

7. PA Military Body Armor:
    - awarded to Source Vagabond Systems Ltd. as of May 2019

8. Assault Rifle 5.56mm M4/AR-15 Platform (2019):
    - post bidding evaluation ongoing, Taurus Armas of Brazil disqualified, Armscor-Emtan JV PQI on-hold due to COVID-19 restrictions.

    - delivery completed.

3. Rocket Launcher Light (Phase 2) - NPO Bazalt RPG-7V2 Rocket Propelled Grenade Launcher:
    - awarded to Rosoboronexport, delivery ongoing. Payment issue still unsettled due to CAATSA issues.

4. Night Fighting System:
    - delivery completed.

5. Tactical Engagement Simulation System:
    5a. Lot 1: I-TESS:
          - delivery ongoing.
